Fortunately Alabama outlawed snagging some years ago. The paddlefish population in Alabama is protected and for good reason. Back when we had plenty of them in the Tennessee river and snagging was legal, it was not uncommon to see literally hundreds of them come floating down the river below Wilson dam. They had been snagged and only the roe removed. The dead fish was then dumped back into the river.
Sorry to hear that snagging is legal in your area. Or is it? If so, it is a shame. No sport or honor in snagging. Snagging is not fishing.
