The huge alligator gar photo making the rounds is one caught in the Mississippi River near Natchez back in May by a guy named Earl Stafford.
It was caught on 50-pound test braided line. It will be the Mississippi record, since none had never been submitted, and also has been submitted to the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame for inclusion in its record books.
As for alligator gar in the Tennessee River, it is possible but they are not common. If anyone catches or shoots one, I'd certainly like to see it.
