Here's a new twist on a really stomped old horse, but let's beat it one more time - uhhhhhhh. Kerry, you can suggest to the DNR that they initiate a new law that states that every tournament that has a purse in excess of $5000 shall issue at sign-up, a special tournament license to each fisherman. The sponsoring body must pay $5-10 for each license and be responsible for the issuance. The fisherman must show his legal state license before the sponsor body will issue the fisherman his OWN tournament license. This will stop the fishing without a valid state-issued license AND raise more funds for our game & fish folks to hire and pay more wardens! AND, make a law that any tournament body that pays ovwer $5000 in purses shall be required to purchase a special PERMIT for each and every tournament date in Alabama! That would add up if it was based on a percentage of the actual participant's entry fee totals - ex. 175 fishing @ $2500 each = 437,500 in entry fees for the pro side at FLW. The TOURNAMENT PERMIT would be 1-3 percent of that number. Add the tournament LICENSE FEE of $5-10 per entrant and we got some CASH for the state DNR!!!!!!!
BTW, Kerry you'll have to be in charge of this fee collection because I'm too busy right now...
