DATE: 7-03-2003
LAKE LEVEL: 564.5
NORMAL FULL POOL: 564.0
SURFACE TEMP: 79.1
WATER CLARITY: Starting to turn dingy everywhere, especially out of Georgia.

CRAPPIE: Not much to say. Some crappie are being caught around some deeper docks and in deep brush. Also doing far night
fishing under bridges using live bait.

BASS: The past weekend we had a 113 boat bass tournament. 21+ won it in 5 fish which is pretty dog gone strong. Harry finished 9th,
in the money with 16+ lbs. Spinner baits early along with Pose 400, carolina rigging soft plastics later on. Fished 10-12 feet of water
right on the breakline. Catching a lot of fish. The bass population is as strong as it has ever been on Weiss.

STRIPE: A few starting to show up around the Ole Cotton Gin. A few out from Bird Island. Not the numbers we would like to see but
better than nothing. If you are a brave soul you can catch them in the tailwaters but only when they are generating.

WHITE BASS: Still some white bass surfacing between Mud Creek and Ballplay late in the afternoons. A few out from Hawg Island on
the big sandbar. A few around Cornwall Furnace in the Chatooga.

BREAM: Starting to show up in the deep holes. With the recent rain it is going to slow that down for a few days. By mid-week they
should bust wide open. (Guntersville).

CATFISH: Jug fishermen and trot line fishermen are doing great. Come on and get all you want.

*Yellow Creek is running muddy at the falls. In a day or two it will clear and the stripe should be in there big time. Take enough to
eat and put the rest back. Please report any poachers you see to Game Watch at 1-800-272-4263. For you out of state fishermen you
can get your fishing license by phone now at 1-888-848-6887. Hope everyone is having a safe summer and have a happy holiday!
