Found a shellcracker bed on Guntersville while trying to catch a bass Sunday in the pouring rain. Had some crickets in case the bass weren't active and was glad I did. Three of us kept around 50 good crackers, turned a bunch of smaller ones back and also got some big bull bream. I've never caught shellcracker before and am curious about them. Will they move in and out and spawn several times over the summer like bream?? Do I need to be concerned about keeping too many and ruining the bed?? I will definitely go back and catch more, but will not keep any if it will spoil the fishing later. None of the 23 that I kept had eggs, were they all males or have the females laid out already?? How can you tell a male from a female? Thanks in advance for any info!!
