When you say "fishing for jacks," do you mean sauger (locally called jack salmon or jacks)? If so, the best advice is to go bass fishing. The jacks are probably not biting in any numbers since it has gotten so warm. Stripers are biting around Easter each year, and are not hard to catch if they are around.

Are you fishing in a boat? Which side of the dam do you fish on - north or south? Have you used the search feature of this site? I usually post things related to "stripe, stripers, G-ville dam, Gville dam, Guntersville dam, TN river" each spring when the fish are biting. E-mail me or post more specific questions so that I don't feel like a broken record.
