Got to fish Cowan Creek at Weiss Lake 3 days this week between all the storms, tornado warnings, and east winds. Crappie were in the deep water at the bridge and out into the 15-16 ft water. We trolled and drifted depending on conditions. Tues (18 keepers) and Thurs (15 keepers) we caught them on white/green/green & white/blue/white Hal-Flys, but with the water getting muddy Friday (19 keepers), we switched to 3/32 oz Hotheads in char/red/char curly tail grubs. Crappie were scattered everywhere. Caught loads of small crappie, yellow bass and catfish. We managed to bring home 52 nice crappie despite the weather we faced. Had several 12/13 inch crappie so trip wasn't a complete bust. From the blood in the egg sacks, if the weather gets back to warm and sunny, the spawn may be 7-10 days away at Weiss..
