Tuscumbia is the birthplace and home of Helen Keller and Spring park is nearly directly south of her birthplace. The city of Tuscumbia decided to stock trout in the waters at Spring park because it is truly spring fed and stays at a constant temperature (at the spring) all year round. We will see if the trout can actually survive a long hot summer, but so far the trout they are stocking have been doing ok. Given that the stated average weight for trout caught out of Spring park is 1-2 pounds, they must surely be stocking the pond/small lake with trout that are already pretty big! I doubt that this small pond could sustain larger trout such as that without a stocking program that used large trout for stocking. A "put and take pond" plan, so to speak. At $12 for a one day permit, personally, I had better catch my limit of good sized trout! (grin)
Good luck and good fishin'
