OK you are right as to there being fiddle worms on the mountain just past Laceys springs ,but its not sand mountain its Brindlee mountain which contains morgan city and arab.Sand mountain has albertville and boaz to name a few cities . HA Now back to the fiddle worms, they will be in deep woods and up on higher ground this time of year due to the wetness, but slower to rise to the fiddling or sawing which ever method you might use due to the temperature .As it gets warmer and drier they will be found in swags and lower deepwoods areas.One way to tell if there are any around is to rake the leaves back and look for doodled up castings with the ground being sort of soft and not hard .They are a form of night crawler believe it or not and poke their heads out at night later in the spring.But getting back to their locations in north alabama ,all i know for sure is that they are on the 2 mountains meantioned here and i have always found them in gray to brown humus soil never red dirt or clay type soil
