The water has finally gone down to where you can safely fish off the bank and the white stripe are ready to bite since they are starting their spawning run.The last two days I have seen dozens caught ,most on any kind of green or chartruse grub or mini jig .Also they are using Little Georges down on the sand bar to catch them .The bite seems to be better in the early afternoon vs late evening say after 430 .I havent seen any thing but whites being caught, but they are a lot of them over 2 lbs and bulging with roe.So far no hybrids or salts seen.I havent fished for them very much, but a few have gotten in the way of my pursuit for the stragler Sauger HA!! Been worst year for them in years and years!!Also they still have 13 gates open and its still very rough toward the locks. The water is very stained. If you try fishing in a boat you might want to bring an umbrella because i never seen so many white gulls in my life flying over the dam HA!!
