In a boat to be mainly used for fishing on fresh water for a variety of species I recommend tiller steering. It is much better for trolling and drifting. Equip it with a comfortable chair set at the right height. With tiller steering, you'll have more free space in your boat. Also, tiller motors are usually cheaper and a breeze to take off to store in the winter or to take and have worked on. If you're primarily a bass fisherman who's going to be sitting in the bow of the boat running a trolling motor when you're not gunning down the lake to the next hot spot, get a boat with a steering wheel.
