Need to call 1-800-Lakes11 and then 5 then 1 then 2 and this will give you the release times for the dam. If water is being released then no fishing (you will drown trying, not a good end to a conference). If water is not running be sure to wait a few hours to let the level drop. Red salmon eggs have been the best for us. Use light line and wire hooks (plenty of snags) If you don't catch something in 10 minutes then move down a few feet. You might catch them and the guy next to you won't get a bite. We use spincasters and sit on bottom with small split shot that lets the bait roll. If you are sophisticated then you can use flyrod but we catch just as many. Ultralight setup is just as much fun. Take care and enjoy the trip. PS. 70 miles from Huntsville.
