The sauger fishing has been slow and next to nil this year. The sauger that has been caught have been small. I went bank fishing below the dam yesterday(north side)and did not catch a single sauger. I was the guy in the crimson Alabama jacket doing all of the swearing at the non biting fish. I used to catch lots of sauger when the flood gates were open. It seems that the opened flood gates are really slowing the fishing. They have been open some time now. Some folks I have talked to said when TVA closes the gates, the sauger fishing will pick up. Does any one have any comments on this theory??? I think I will go back to crappie fishing until the sauger starts to pick up. It seems that the crappie are still biting in the lake from what I have been reading on this message site. I know I am not the only one disgusted with the sauger bite so far this year... GOOD FISHING TO ALL.. Louis T.
