you got everything right ,except I'd forget the 3/4jig head and down size to no more than 1/4 on that side of the river, probably why you planted so many.On the turbine side of the river we got major current and only use 5/16 down to 1/4ounce.with as light as 4lb test line.You might want to make the minnows a little smaller , i have been catching them on 2 to 3 in minnows,course the sauger have been minnows too !! maybe using the bigger stuff will mean only big fish HA!! Might want to try pearl and pumpkin seed colored curlytails too,just to break the monotany .I only got one today ,while a good friend beside me caught 6!! but none were 14in.He was using a 2in red and chartruse squriming squirts as seen in bass pro.Best thing about sauger fishing is stay patient with them ,some days they will be there and others scarce , soon , in about 6 weeks they will be in on the rocks to spawn,hopefully they will be some larger ones then!!"Hang " in there and good fishing
