The eustrongylides parasite (little red worms in the meat) hadn't been showing up too much until lately. I threw back several crappie today because they had these worms in them. They were infested with several worms that were clearly visible to the naked eye. Several fish had so many worms in them that I probably should have kept them just to keep the worms from completing the life cyclce. (sigh)

I also caught one crappie that had a growth on the lower fins that looked like tiny bubbles that had hardened. I have caught fish in the past with this same affliciton, but I am still not sure if it is a fungus or a parasite. Sores on fish in Wheeler seem to be getting more and more common. (sigh)
