From the bank...Man, I would trade two days at a bank for one day in a boat. For this time of year fish at the bank of the Dam on the low side when the turbines are running. I've had the best luck on the Marshall County side at night with bream cut-bait. I like to use 30lb test leader with 20lb light green mono line so I can see it under the light of the dam. Lanterns are good for seeing but it's been my experience that catfish aren't very attracted to the light. I'm not scared to use a fairly large hook either.
I was always told "If you want to catch the big'uns, bait the hook for the big'uns".
The best time of the year is when they’re sponging in the springtime. (would be nice to have a boat then) I landed some nice ones last spring. Good luck
