Water levels at Decatur

Alex came over to Decatur today to try for crappie from the bank with me since the winds were predicted to be out of the southwest from 15-25 mph. The prediction was pretty good!

We didn't have much luck only catching 2 keepers and just a few crappie under 9 inches. Given the fairly rapid drop in water level (see image) on Wheeler over the last couple of days, this was to be expected. I like the water levels to be down like this on Wheeler, but when TVA drops the water suddenly, it forces the fish out of many areas and they head for deeper water. I expect they will be back and hitting pretty good in a few days, although they may tend to stay in deeper waters now given the colder weather. Heck, what do I know!

You don't know 'til you go and throw and there is no substitute for time on the water.

Good luck and good fishin'

Kerry
