Was out on Big Salty this past weekend and saw some unusual crappie activity for this time of year. The fish were in 2-3' of water at dusk. They were taking minnows 1' under a bobber at the Hwy 72 bridge. You also could catch them on a bass assasin with 1/32 jig head dropping it along the channel break. The one that really miffed me though was all the folks with lanterns after dark. After dark all the lanterns came out and the bobbers were about 10' off shore and folks were consistently catching crappie. Good sized fish all the keepers were 10" and bigger with some slabs that went close to 2 lbs. An average number of short fish were mixed in. Certainly not a typical fall pattern on any sort that I'm used to.
