dont let the guys that are hanging up fishing from the bank scare you away from the bank fishing !! true in the beginning you will lose a lot of jigs ,but as you learn the lay of the bank your fishing and how to let the current bump you along the bottom
you will lose less nd less and catch more and more sauger!! When they are running they wont let you get hung to much anyway , right now they are small and few and far between but the cold nights over the week end should have them starting sometime this week , if tva will just leave the gates open !!!
I use a unpainted 1/4th oz jig with a mini jig or 3 in grub and always tipped with a tuffy minnow .Colors vary but a green or charturse is popular and a flo pink or orange works !!! Most critical is the line strength , no more than 6lb test and a lot of the oldsters swear by the 4 lb firelines!!! The lighter the line the
better you will get to the bottom and thats the key you got to be bumping along the shell and gravel and rock bottom!! you get up and the shad and strip will give you a tussle HA !! and ocassionally you will ty into a drum of major weight ,just hang on and let the drag and current whip him, unless the jacks are biting well then just tighten the drag and either the
hook will straighten or break the line but get back to fishing for them as soon as possible they, make runs up and dwon the bank !!
