Because of the storms and the cold front that passed Sunday night I decided to wait until this morning to head over to Pickwick. I launched at McFarland Park just after first light with a baitwell full of crawly bottoms (log perch). From what I could tell, almost everything had lock jaw except for the drum. I fished from Wilson Dam down to Seven Mile Island and only managed to land one 2.5 pound smallie. The lake was at full pool and extremely swift. I fished current seams, eddy water, and directly in the current without finding any spots holding feeding smallmouth. Of all the folks I talked to today, none had caught a smallmouth. By 12:30 I decided to call it quits and make the long drive back to the house.
