The water temperature below the dam this morning was 59.3 degrees. I released the only 14" sauger I could trick into biting, so he could welcome the rest of his buddies when they finally make the journey upstream. The spotted bass are starting to hit deep diving crankbaits. They were fat and healthy, but all were under 2.5 pounds. The water was VERY high for this time of year yet surprisingly clear. I didn't try for any stripers this morning because I did not see any topwater feeding activity. I tried Guntersville Lake yesterday for some crappie and only caught some small ones. I hope the crappie or sauger fishing gets better soon before my fillet knife gets rusty!!! Good Luck!
