First I tried for crappie or sauger with minnows, then crankin' for bass with no luck. I did manage several stripers all under 3 pounds on live bait. If I had brought an spare large capacity reel/rod combo, I beleive I could have caught a few stripers over 10 pounds on topwater baits because several were feeding on the surface. Next time I'll pack my rod locker full.
Obviously the catfish have moved into the area because I caught a 10 1/2 pound blue, a 6 1/2 pound channel, and several smaller channel cats on live bait drifted at the edge of the main current. All were very fat and healthy fish. The water temperature was 64.3 degrees this morning. If this cool weather will hang around, all kinds of fishing should pick up soon. Good Luck!
