No way Guntersville is turning over, this doesn't happen until the surface temperature approaches 39 degrees Farenheit. Rather than go into details here about the specifics, I found some websites that can explain it. Just do an internet search on "Lake Turnover". Here's one link I found.

The smell must have came from something else. Think about the wind direction that day and look at a map to see what might have cause the smell (dogfood plant, factory, etc). I usually blame things like that on my fishing partner!
