I've heard good things about Terrapin creek in north eastern alabama, although I havent fished it....yet. A few weeks ago I fished the mulberry fork near Arab and caught some redeye bass, also stopped by Bluewater creek in lauderdale county (more northwest alabama)for 30 minutes and had a solid smallmouth. I drove by the sipsey but the water was running, when the water is running the consensus from those I've talked to is that it is a waste of time. When the dam isn't on, theres some good fishing. To get there take 65 north from Birmingham, then take 69 west towards Jasper. You wont miss it, about 20 miles down the road. Another place you could possibly try is Tims Ford dam near winchester Tennesee, which is about 40 miles from Huntsville, they have plenty of brown and rainbow trout. Same thing goes for Tims Ford, if the water is running, go somewhere else.
