i've been getting them in bluewater creek...go into the creek about 3/4 mile where the first bend is. small baits are schooling on top, but if you have a large net 8'+, you can throw on the small baits, let the net sink, and get the 5"+ yellowtails that are running underneath them. its my observation that the smallmouth will usually hit a gizzard shad just as well as a yellowtail, but sometimes they get very picky and will key on one particular size and type of bait. so who knows? let us know how you do. i went saturday and lost a seal - water was blowing out around one of my spark plugs. we were lucky enough to get a tow back in. never did get to fish, but we did see a lot of bait!
