What JD said is true. Adult stripers (roughly over 27 inches) will starve or suffocate rather than leave a thermal niche (68 degrees, plus or minus a few). Fall is a great time to catch rockfish and hybrids below G'ville Dam and I suspect it is at Wheeler too. The hybrids start hitting around the middle of September. They usually start before the Salts at G'ville. Hope this helps. All kinds of fishing has stunk the past few weeks. It's going to get better soon. Hang in there.
