Great advice above! Just my two cents worth. I reccomend going to a six foot diameter. In my opinion, and others I have taught, the six foot is much easier to throw than the smaller nets. Beginners tend to overthrow the nets and that prevents a good spread. Also, as I am sure you will, pratice before you get to the water. Find a good grassy area with a step to mimic throwing from your boat. Good luck and have fun.
