When you put the line on the feed spool should be lying on the floor so that the line comes off sideways instead of rolling off. Run the line through the eyes for resistance to running and hold a piece of paper towed around the line in front of the reel to make more friction so that the wrap of the line on the spool is snug.
This will decrease twirling of the line. If you still get some twirling of loose line after a cast, let the bare line (no weight, lure or anything) drag in water behind a slow moving boat to remove the twist. When you rewind the unweighted line on the spool, again use a paper towel or something to make the line snug on the spool - not too tight, but snug.
