yeah........you definetly float it with a canoe. there may be come places that you'll have to walk it, but no more than 20-30 yards or so. i've had the best luck on a hellgamite fly. they will hit topwater,,and hit it hard. the bite on artificial is slow, but they'll still hit. as i said the bigger fish have been caught on live crawdads. i've got a friend that said he's caught alot of fish on large night crawlers. he hooks the head of the worm only. says the fish suck it up like pasta..lol
the best place to put in and take out would be on co rd 33 and hwy 72. there's a couple of other places on co rd 71 and 64. if you're familiar with the area. i'll try to post a link to a map when i get to work.
