Fished Wheeler yesterday and today for bream. 23 decent shellcrackers yesterday on Keystone minnow under a cork, artificial crawdad tightline and under a cork.
Today I brought along crickets, but TVA had dropped the water about half a foot and it was falling all day, so the fishing was a little tougher but I managed 24 shellies and one nice 'gill. The hit was strange and hard to see. I actually had to park my boat on TOP of the shellies, which were fanning beds, so I could see them take the cricket/jig/whatever. They would take it in and blow it out so fast if I blinked I missed it and if I was only watching the cork or the line I couldn't even tell this had happened!
Concentrate on the warmest shallow water you can find where there is grass/weeds/some kind of cover. They are there, but are being real picky. Redworms might have helped, if I had taken any.
Good luck and good fishin'
