It appears that TVA will generate from 6 am to 11 pm so current should not be an issue. I don't know if I am superstitious, but I have much better luck with live bait below Wheeler dam. Shiners seem to work all right for me, but some insist on yellowtails. Not sure about crawleys at wheeler. 4" sassy shad has produced some good fish for me below wheeler. I still have yet to rig a sassy shad like live bait with barrel weight and swivel. In theory, it sure seems like it would work great. But, one knot instead of 3 is always easier and when you are in a feeding frenzy and break-off.
p.s. A fishing guide told me this week that big rockfish will smack a spinnerbait around drifting in the current. Seems like an expensive risk to me! Too many "rock bass" around!
