Cricket fishing below Wheeler dam

Once again I tried below Wheeler dam from the bank today. I bought 2 tubes of crickets and put them in my tall cricket cage and headed out after checking a couple of bank fishing spots around Decatur at about 11am.

I caught more than I ever cared to! All were taken by hand and were right on the surface... or under carpet, seats, etc. Yes, the cricket cage turned over and about a half tube or more got loose in the truck.

I caught all I could until I got tired of chasing them and left the rest to fend for themselves in the truck, hot sun and all, ha! That'll teach 'em! (grin)

Oh yeah, the fishing was terrible! I did manage to catch a couple of small bluegills on crickets and a couple of small stripe/white bass and one LMB or smallmouth that got off before I could tell, on a jerk bait, but nobody was catching anything below the dam that I could see.

Got there about 1:30pm (stopped to eat lunch at the Bud's in Hillboro, sub sandwich and drink, not bad) and left about 6:30pm.

Good luck and good fishin'
