TVA is predicting Wheeler to rise gradually over the next couple of days. (See http://lakeinfo.tva.gov ) But, with the rain that is supposed to be coming over the next couple of days, that could change.
Flint has spent the last 3 days "catching up" with the main lake. The last rain made Flint rise in relation to Wheeler lake and it has just now caught up with the main lake level. It usually takes about 48 hours for Flint to crest, after the rain stops, and start to fall back to the level of the main lake. How high Flint gets and how fast it runs all depends on how much water falls on the Flint creek watershed which extends into Hartselle and far beyond to the south. Flint can often be very high and rolling fast regardless of the main lake level. I think nearly everything north and west of Cullman ends up running towards Flint creek.
Hope that helps!
Good luck and good fishin'
