Just maybe the rocks on the causeway are heating the water a bit more than the open areas. And since they are traveling from deep to shallow to spawn, aren't most causeways on or near a bridge with some type of channel going under it? And, in the spring as the storms cause muddy water, most fish follow the waterline against any current in an attempt to find clearer water (eventually and of course, relative to the clarity where they moved from.) Does that make any sense?
