Well, when you are fishing with a natural food source it is hard for it not to be good. That would be like putting a Big Mac in front of me, I don't care when it is, I am going to eat it. Split shot is the best way, be sure you have six pound line, get any bigger and the bait won't look natural. The best places are anywhere from the dam to patton island bridge, the bluffs across from Mcfarland harbor, the rock row at sheffield boat ramp, and where the little river splits off there at Sheffield, drift down the little river side where it splits. You must have current, so check the TVA web page and plan you times around their release times. Always remember this time of year if the smallmouth are not biting, you can always go in Cane creek and catch some huge Saltwater stripe.
