I read a lot here, but this is my first post. I have a flatwater kayak and like to fish. I have access to a cabin on Wheeler near Lucy's Branch Marina. I fish the slews - not the main channel much. Will be there this weekend and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where/what to fish for with the weather being what it has been. I look on my map and see that there is supposed to be a stump field in about 20 feet of water from Magnolia sub division (snake road) upriver to the nuclear plant. I was planning on trying my luck out there in open water for deep bass or crappie (spinning). If this doesn't produce, I will fly fish for bream in the slews if it's the least bit warm. Anyone have any opinions on this approach? or where should I go that I could paddle to? I have a 2.5 mile range let's say. Could go ALL the way across the river, but never been there and dunno what it's like. Tell me if it's worth the paddle, or stick to my side of the river?
Thanks for any info, Mitch Delk
