We may have saugeye in the Tennessee river, but I haven't heard anything about them. It may be another ID problem. From what I could find on the net about saugeye, they are probably so similar to sauger in appearance that most sauger fishermen would never notice the difference. Also, I don't think there is anything on the Alabama DCNR site about saugeye, so I am not even sure that the Alabama state biologists have studied them very much. You are correct about no state record slot in Alabama for saugeye. I would venture to say that most sauger fishermen have never even heard of such a fish, let alone be able to identify one, including myself.
