You have to know what it is the trout are rising to.If they are taking the bug befor it has chance to break through the surface film, or is it taking it while it is drying its wings off. Then you have to know what size and color to use. Most of the trout in the sipsey fork feed on imerging midge pupae. They break the suface doing so but are actually taking the bug below the surface. They can be taken on drys usually with size 20 or smaller caddis or midge patterns using 7x tippet and smaller. If you were fishing here this weekend most of the fish were just stocked and they hit the top out of instinct and don't really feed on any thing.give them a few weeks and they turn into real fish.
