I am liking the St. Croix line of rods, more and more. I have a 9' AF909 fly rod(color is blue, $190.00); just gave my son a 7' Tidemaster(TS70MHF, matte green finish, $110.00) with a Shimano reel to use for gulf coast salting. Both of these are for heavier fishing situations, but go to www.stcroixrods.com for an on-line catalog with pricing. Pricing is moderate compared to some, quality and warranty is great for everything from ultralights to the big waters! Both of our rods feel just-right when casting, natural. A few independent on-line reviewers also suggest Ugly Stiks($40??) as an economical way to get some reliable, lightweight power in a graphite rod. Hope this helps! and thanks for the word on saugers!
