Kerry,

I paid $354.95 for my trolling motor on 4/15/2001 and it has seen a great deal of use/abuse since then. I usually fish at least 3 days a week and sometimes 7 days a week. I saw Troy's post about a used PD unit that looks like what you should consider. The infinite speed control on a maximizer unit is essential, as far as I'm concerned, for precise presentations on finicky fish, whatever the species. For this reason I would only use a Maxxum or a PD model. I just can't see spending over a thousand bucks for a Genesis model. I've not been very pleased with Motor Guide units in the past because of noise or durability. Good luck with your search and I hope your bout with that nasty "bug" you've had will end soon, so you can start chasing fish again. I would like to thank you for the wonderful site which allows all of us that love to fish a chance to help one another.
