We enjoyed two good days on Pickwick catching spots in deep water. Most of the fish were caught on tuffie minnows with a few fish caught on lemon pumpkin fineese worms and tiny torpedoes. The fish that were not caught on tuffies came around daylight in the cane creek area. For two days we caught 37 fish. The average weight of the spots was 1.75 lbs with 6 or 7 in the 3 lb. class. These spots were caught using 6 lb test line on a carolina rig with a 6 foot leader. Most of these fish were caught in deep creek bends in 19 to 23 feet of water. Brush was the key factor in catching these fish. You almost had to get hung up in the brush to get a bite. I usually fish Bay Springs in MS. I am glad I decided to make the trip down the Natchez Trace Parkway to try Pickwick.
