I like Wheeler on the low end and all of Wilson during late Janurary through Feburary. Artificials are best for me then for big smallies. Small cranks and suspending jerkbaits worked off steep bluffs near points or on secondary points in the mid-river areas of Wilson usually produce. Same on Wheeler from the Elk down. I normally do better away from the tailraces, but drifting a 3/4oz spinnerbait in the tail races can be great for a big smallie in Feb through March. Now is good also since the water is just starting to get cooled down, and I love it when it gets high and muddy. The spinnerbait on rip-rap or seawall points can put huge smallies in the boat when it floods and the current is running. Hope this helps. T.
