Has anyone ever been on opening day? Do you think it will be miserably crowded?
I went once about ten years ago in mid-season and, as I recall, there were a fair number of people with limited areas to cast. I guess that is the only "trout fishing" I have ever done. All I remember is that I needed a net because either the fish were too slippery to grab, the bank was too steep to reach down, or the bank was too high to pull the fish out of the water with light line. Perhaps trout fishing is not my forte. ;)
Also, I was not sure if I cleaned them properly. As I recall, they had super fine scales and I was not sure if the skin would make it taste bad. I dressed the fish, but never ate them. I guess since I am older and wiser, the ol' electric fillet knife would remove bones, skin, extreme dark meat (if any, like stripe?), and any other doubts that may appear. If preparation is different from other "normal" Alabama fish, tips would be appreciated.
Thanks, and good luck (as if luck is needed in a stocked pond!)!
