The crappie hit in Guntersville has become unpredictable for me lately, but I suspect that it is still reasonably good under most any causeway bridge including Browns creek in the EARLY morning depending on current. As for your reels, the Zebco's with 6# test are definitely a better bet than a bait caster. As for working minnows under a cork, I would use a slip cork setting the depth to between 10 and 12 feet to start. I really have to defer to Alex on that since I normally only use jigs myself.
Good luck and good fishin'
