I'm from Arab, Al but I try to fish the Tims Ford tailrace as much as possible. I fish 3 diffrent float trips. For the first I launch just below the dam and float to Garner Ford access which is about 2.5 or 3 river miles downstream. Next is from Garner Ford to Ferris Creek bridge which is about a 6 mile float. Last starts at Ferris Creek bridge and goes for about 6 1/2 miles to Old Dam Ford. The last float will give you a mixed bag of rainbows, browns and smallmouth. The first two produce mostly rainbows with a few brown trout and an occasional walleye. All of the float trips have great scenery with abundant wildlife. I've seen deer, canada geese, wood ducks, wild turkey, mink, coons, squirrels - well you get the picture!
