Recently found and caught several slabs about 26 to 30 foot deep in the heat of the day. I spent more time re-rigging than fishing. Was using a bell sinker with two hooks about a foot apart. My question is: is there an easier way of fishing this deep for crappie? I found the fish bunched together on old trees about 35 foot deep, had to use heavy sinker just to get bait down that far. By the time I got minnows in the strike zone, I had so much line out I could barely feel a thing. I stayed hung up the majority of the time. I was using an ultra light spinning rig with 8lb line.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
