If you have a boat, you can go to Guntersville. Put in at Goose Pond, and get on the grass lines along the main channel ledge. There are monster carp early in the am schooling on top of the ledge. Big gar are everywhere along the grass lines, just look for the fins sticking up out of the water, or watch for them sitting in the grass. You can shoot 2-3 pound gizzard shad till your arm falls off, and I would imagine they would be pretty sporty. Make sure you check regulations on limits for gar and such. During the heat of the day is see these rough fish everywhere while fishing for bass. Seeing them by the thousands during the day, I can only imagine that night hunting would be unreal along the channel ledges.
