This is just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth...
I think they don't run the turbines anywhere near as much as they did when I was a lot younger, because of the nuclear plant(s). The nuclear plants produce so much electric power that the dams are now only used during peak periods where they used to provide the majority of the power along with some coal fired plants. The lack of consistent flow on the Tennessee has, IMHO, had a very detrimental effect on the fish and fishing on the Tennessee river.
Like I said, this is just my opinion and another one of my many theories about fishing in North Alabama. (grin)
