The grass is behind this year, due to the cold winter and the slow start on spring. Water temps were cooler than normal clear up to mid May. It is topping out now in many areas, and will be on top in most areas in the next three weeks. The hot, summer days are my favorite time to fish. Most people don't like to fish then, but fishing the grass is very productive during daytime hours in the summer. Most of the really big fish clients have put in my boat, have come during the summer months on humid, sunny days between the hours of 9am and 2pm, and most of them on top-water baits. Many other guides and many pro's have written about the top-water bite under these conditions. As long as you have good cover, you can catch the fish. Good luck.
