We had a pretty good day today. The no-fail bait is a melonseed finesse worm, Texas-rigged with a 1/8oz bullet weight on a 1/O hook, or on a 1/8oz slider head. I'm not big on "finesse" fishing, but it caught some good bass today. Drop it in the shallow milfoil on points, in the pockets or on ledges and humps in the hydrilla. A buzzbait worked well today over shallow milfoil, and a 6" green pumpkin lizard Texas-rigged with a 3/16oz weight on a 2/0 hook, worked in the hydrilla on the main river ledges in 4 to 8 feet of water. A weightless worm, or a soft jerkbait is working also over the shallow grass near the banks, around piers or in pockets.
